Jorts
As of last summer, 2017, I joined a local softball league called the "Unamerican League" (UAL).
We play at riverside park every Sunday for about 12 Sundays starting the last week of April.
This is basically an excuse for a bunch of buddies to get together and get hammered every week once a week all day. It's a blast to crack a brew at 11:30 and talk trash to a bunch of fat, old, drunk guys all day.
Add to the mix, no umpires in this league, which leads to a tremendous amount of screaming and shouting at each other; cussing, name calling, you name it, I've already heard it on the softball diamond because these geezers get rowdy.
The most exciting detail about my newly embarked softball endeavors is that last year was my team's first year in the league. The UAL was going close up shop because they only had five teams, not enough to host a playoff tournament. Our team came in at the 11th hour and saved the league.
My team, the 'Sports n' Jorts', plays in jean shorts every week, it's our thing.
We're a bunch of young guys, average age on our team is around 24-25, and only won one game during the entire regular season, so basically we were just having fun out there right? WRONG!!
Come playoff time the Jorts were on a different freaking level...We SWEPT in the playoffs and won the championship, and took the CUP!!!!!!
Needless to say, the other teams were stunned.
In the end, the biggest thing I got out of playing in the UAL was the high level of camaraderie with my teammates, as well as players on other teams.
